Fifth term
It's summer. How about a sail around the Harbor?
Seaport Academy's "Fifth Term" starts in late May and ends in July. Most Seaport students participate in "Fifth Term."
The "Fifth Term" students choose from among four tracks: work-study, college courses, summer classes, or adventure learning.
Activities typically include:
- Sailing
- Tennis
- Fishing and boating
- Arts and crafts
- Rock climbing
- Study and research at local museums
- Camping and whitewater rafting
- Island exploration and/or a week-long sail aboard a large sailing vessel
- Overnight field trips
- Work study
- Summer courses at Bunker Hill Community College
- Intensive academic study
Because the "Fifth Term" offers more extracurricular activities, projects and unique summer experiences, students can build on their social successes and academic gains within a very non-traditional format. For students who are not interested in a typical summer camp experience, the Seaport summer term gives them time to engage comfortably in a variety of activities while continuing to build social and personal awareness.
